Iona South Stake Girls Camp

IMG_0586The FIRST Stake Girls’ Camp for the new Iona South Stake is officially in the books.  I was called as the Stake Young Womens President of the new Stake in February. We have eight wards, Iona 1st, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th.  Fortunately, President Gordon was able to secure us a week at Darby when the Iona Stake was split. We spent the week of August 11-15 celebrating Christmas in August.  Our theme matching the YW theme of “Come Unto Christ”.  Some of the activities included a family home evening sing-a-long, cookie decorating, volleyball, archery, lip syncs, singing in the dark, and a spiritual program on the life of Christ. 10th Ward even had camels visit with the Maji (the Bishopric).  I would bet that is the first time camels have been at Darby.10435838_10204520439399645_581869309343755634_n10374447_10204520438439621_1420022500867046574_n60672_10204520436279567_1257234095920262389_nIMG_0630
A humanitarian project was organized to braid polyester fabric into jump ropes to send to children in other countries.  Over 285 ropes were completed.

Maxine Belnap is Stake Camp Director with Ruth Beck and LeeAnn Smith as assistants.  The Young Women’s Presidency is myself (president) with Debbie Smith, Brenda Lowry, and Leslie Egbert.  Our High Councilman, Robert Egbert, was a huge help to us throughout the week.

…and I have a special place in my heart for the leaders of my home ward.
