Good News and Bad News

I’m not sure which news to share first.  I guess I will start with the bad news and end on a good note.  Daren and Marlene have decided to move to Montana.  They left on the 24th.  For the time being they will be living with her parents and looking for work.  We hope it works out for them.  Even though they weren’t really close and we only saw them occasionally, this will put them further away.  Hopefully Daren will continue his college classes there as well.

They also gave us some good news.  They are going to be adding to the grandchildren count.  It is early and we won’t know what to expect for a few months.  DSCN0100

We are excitedly awaiting the arrival of Maya (Steph and Rod’s) in August and then the next arrival will be around January 7th.  Grandma is happy!!!

Rockwood RV Park Upgrades

Spring came and the camping bug set in.  Doug continues to improve the farm RV park.  This year we are hosting the Harold Schwieder Reunion and wanted to add some things for the kids to do.  We spent one weekend putting in some play toys – a big tire to climb on and a teeter-totter.  Later Doug added the slide.  He has also smoothed more ground and planted grass.  I’m ready to move to my summer home. 05121210060512121623aDSCN0071DSCN0070

Last year Doug and the boys built a little shed to house the four-wheelers and lawn mower.  Doug had siding added last fall and it really looks nice as well.

Today we took the trailer back after the Memorial Day Weekend.  While Doug and Scott worked putting up a gate, I mowed the acres of lawn. They put two large post in place.  Later they will add a cross post and gates.   It is looking really good.

Memorial Day Weekend–Buffalo Camping

DSCN0067We made our annual trip to Buffalo Campground in Island Park for Memorial Day.  We always reserve our spot 6 months ahead and rarely is it nice weather.  Fortunately the sites we reserve have power and so we are able to watch a lot of movies and run the heaters.  The best part is just being with family and friends.  This year we had all four kids and spouses. DSCN0066 The kids were going to tent, but when we saw the weather forecast we arranged to take Grandma and Grandpa Schwieder’s trailer as well for the bunkhouse.  It worked out well.  We had rain and snow for most of the three days, but we had fun playing games, watching movies, and of course EATING!  We feel so blessed to get to spend time together as a family.

Rod and Reed even found a break in the weather to do a little fly fishing. BRRRR!
